New Divorce party game

Category : A New You, Break-Up, Divorce Party, Friends, Friends and Divorce, Moving On, Uncategorized

On first glance you may think you are seeing a mature “Girl Scouts Gone Wild” episode being filmed, but in reality you are most likely watching someone play Divorce Dares, the new wearable divorce party game from Burnsy Badges.   It features a beautiful black sash which proclaims “Just Divorced!” on the front with the phrase “Help me earn my Badges!” on the back. Badges? What badges??

This is where it gets interesting! The game comes with 60 adhesive badges that are illustrated to look like embroidered “Scout Style” patches. They have cute names and illustrations that each represent a particular dare or task the wearer must accomplish before the end of the nights festivities.
The Divorcee picks out 20 or so badges based on the name, color or whatever strikes her fancy and then places them on the front of the sash. The others girls in the party have the list which describes what each badge means and what she must do. Let the fun begin as they range from mild to wild and are pretty hilarious! The best part is that many of them require the assistance of a cute guy (or guys) to accomplish. The badges come off the sash as the dares are completed. The Divorcee can even take a pass and hand out up to three of the badges for other ladies in the group to accomplish in place of her. It’s a great way for the Divorcee to open up again, maybe try something new, and even our of her comfort zone, and get off to a fun, fresh start!”

Divorce Ritual: Fly Fly Away

Category : Divorce Party, Healing

I threw a divorce party recently for a client and there was lots of humor and healing! One of the reasons my divorce parties are unique from others is because of the rituals that my divorcees perform during each event. Not only do they bring structure to the party, but each ritual performed gives way to more and more healing for the divorcee — the notion of moving on! I am always amazed at how much other guests, who are divorced but didn’t have a divorce party, healed and had closure after being at a friends divorce party.

One of the rituals that is always a hit is Fly Fly Away. Here are the steps:

Step 1) On small pieces of paper, the divorcee should write all of the things she disliked about her ex.

Step 2) On small pieces of paper the guests should write down all of the wonderful things that they want for the divorcee’s new life.

Step 3) Everybody should roll up the little pieces of paper and put them into the balloons.

Step 4) Blow up the balloons and tie a string around each one.

Step 5) The divorcee should go outside with everyone at the party and let the balloons go into the sky.

It seems that Katie Holmes is marking moving on from Tom Cruise with a divorce party.  “We understand she’s marking the occasion with a ‘divorce party’,” reports British magazine Grazia. “The mood will be ‘enjoyable and emotional’ with Katie wanting to thank them for their support throughout a momentous year.”

The divorce party is reportedly going to be held at The Jane in New York City. Sounds like fun! Great way to move on!!

The Divorce Party Continues…

Category : Books, Divorce Party

Divorce parties…there’s just no stopping them! I am glad to see that celebrating your divorce is being celebrated by people all over the world. When I had my divorce party, it was exactly what I needed to let out a big exhale and move on. It even sparked writing my new book “The Divorce Ritual: Get Up, Get Out and Get On With Your Life.” I recently came across an article that I wanted to share with you about divorce parties entitled “Divorce Party Anyone.” They said:

Gone are the days when, couples used to go through hell during their divorces, well though it still remains hell-like for some couples, some smart ones have started accepting this new change in their lives with a straight face, in fact, with a rather happy face! Yeah, you’re getting me right, couples who are splitting with each-other are celebrating their split-ups. Archana Chibba, a 40 year old Marketing Professional, did a similar thing along with her ex husband to celebrate their divorce. “We realised that we couldn’t live with each-other anymore but, we still remain the best friends. I didn’t want to make it ugly and my ex-hubby ushered a similar sentiment when I talked it out with him! A mutual end to our marriage worked for us and we wanted to celebrate it. Both of us pooled in money and threw a party to remember. I called my friends, he called his and we had a rocking time. I am glad that I am not one of those unfortunate woman, who have to think twice before calling up the man they used to share their bed once. I call him for help every now and then and the feeling is purely mutual. I feel truly blessed.”
