New Divorce party game

Category : A New You, Break-Up, Divorce Party, Friends, Friends and Divorce, Moving On, Uncategorized

On first glance you may think you are seeing a mature “Girl Scouts Gone Wild” episode being filmed, but in reality you are most likely watching someone play Divorce Dares, the new wearable divorce party game from Burnsy Badges.   It features a beautiful black sash which proclaims “Just Divorced!” on the front with the phrase “Help me earn my Badges!” on the back. Badges? What badges??

This is where it gets interesting! The game comes with 60 adhesive badges that are illustrated to look like embroidered “Scout Style” patches. They have cute names and illustrations that each represent a particular dare or task the wearer must accomplish before the end of the nights festivities.
The Divorcee picks out 20 or so badges based on the name, color or whatever strikes her fancy and then places them on the front of the sash. The others girls in the party have the list which describes what each badge means and what she must do. Let the fun begin as they range from mild to wild and are pretty hilarious! The best part is that many of them require the assistance of a cute guy (or guys) to accomplish. The badges come off the sash as the dares are completed. The Divorcee can even take a pass and hand out up to three of the badges for other ladies in the group to accomplish in place of her. It’s a great way for the Divorcee to open up again, maybe try something new, and even our of her comfort zone, and get off to a fun, fresh start!”

The Ultimate Indignity

Category : Break-Up, Dating, Divorce Rate, Favorite Articles, Financial

Read an article in the Los Angeles Times about the fact that since the economy is getting better, divorce is going up.

I had heard a while ago that so many people stayed married and living together because they couldn’t sell their home — their biggest asset.  Many of the couples stayed together and waited until they could get a price that made sense for them.  I actually met a woman who lived like that for about a year and a half.  It must have been quite an experience.  She would sort of slide out the backdoor when she had a date and then had to be pleasant when she returned.   Talk about a schizophrenic lifestyle.

Obviously, it’s not love that keeps some married people together.  To read the article in the Los Angeles times click here.

The Five Worst Ways to Get Dumped

worstwaystogetdumped 300x200 The Five Worst Ways to Get Dumped

My article was posted on the eHarmony blog. Here is a teaser:

Author Lois Tarter recounts the worst ways to get dumped. The takeaway from this is to never break it off with another person in the following ways. Have some courage, and compassion, to break up with someone face to face if it all possible.

Even the “it’s not you; it’s me” speech is better than these. As the old saying goes, “breaking up is hard to do”…especially if you’re on the receiving end of it. If you’re the one ending the relationship, compassion is key. With that in mind, here are five ways you should never choose to end a relationship.

Sleep Better

Category : Break-Up, Health

You can certainly have a difficult time sleeping when you’re going through a divorce. However, there are some natural things that can help you get a better night’s sleep. In a new article entitled, “3 Nutrients Linked To A Better Night’s Sleep”  some healthy options are offered to help you get more rest. If you’re going through a divorce you’re probably not sleeping well, so this will be helpful information!

I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but the U.S. seems to have become a  nation obsessed with pills. If something doesn’t work right, no worries, there’s  a pill for that.

So when we have trouble sleeping, naturally, we go see the doctor for a  prescription. Who cares that we might try to sleepwalk our way behind the wheel of a car? At  least we’re sleeping, right? Wrong!

If you ask me, prescriptions, especially those with severe and dangerous side  effects, should always be a last resort.

Jane Lynch Talks About her Divorce

Category : Break-Up, Celebrity, Children

Jane Lynch ended her 3 year marriage to Lara Embry and it’s great to see that there are no bad feelings. Lynch said recently on Larry King Now,  ”It’s not dramatic. It’s not a horrible thing. It’s something that we’re dealing with. It’s two people who just decided it’s better to go apart than stay together.”

Many couples seem to grow apart and it seems to be what happened to them.

Lynch also said, ”All’s good. We have a little girl – she has a little girl who’s very dear to me. She’s 10, and she’s doing great … We have to remain adults, which we have. We keep everybody’s – especially Haden’s – good in our mind.”
